Carol's Family Daycare

Christiansburg, Virginia · Established 1993

A small home where little ones are known by name.

We're a family day home offering attentive, unhurried care for a small group of children. Real home, real routines, real relationships — with parents, kids, and the families we get to know.

What we believe

Children flourish when they're known — not managed. We keep our group small on purpose, so every child gets the kind of attention they'd get from a thoughtful aunt, not a busy classroom.

A day in our home

Predictable rhythm, room to wander

Our days follow a gentle, predictable shape — kids feel safest when they know what comes next, but there's always room for the morning to take its own turn.

7:30

Morning arrivals

Quiet welcome, breakfast for those who'd like it, free play with books and blocks.

9:00

Circle time

Songs, a story, the day's plan. We talk about the weather and who's here.

9:45

Outside or studio

Fenced backyard for running, climbing, and digging. Rainy days mean art, baking, or sensory bins.

11:30

Lunch together

We sit at the same table. Older kids help set out napkins. Real plates, real forks.

12:30

Rest

Cots, soft music, books for those who don't sleep. Most do.

3:00

Snack & open play

Afternoon snack, free choice of activities, projects that span days.

5:30

Pickup

Hugs, a quick note about the day, off you go.

Little Sprouts

One-on-one care for our youngest, with rocking chairs, soft floors, and a quiet corner that's always available for a nap.

18 months – 3 years

Toddlers

Where words explode, opinions form, and snacks become a serious matter. Lots of outdoor time and messy play.

3 – 5 years

Preschool

Letters, numbers, and big questions about the world — all wrapped into the day, never drilled. Kindergarten-ready, never rushed.
